Below here you’ll find a selection of various vegan recipies that I cook regularly. Well, you will when I get round to typing them all up anyhow.
I’ve been Vegan since my early 20s. Its an ethical choice that is both easy to make and doesn’t feel like any sort of sacrifice at all. People have a standard set of questions that they ask, first amongst which is "what do you eat"? I usually let Benjamin Zephaniah answer that particular one with his poem, Vegan Delight.
I’m not one of those ranty vegans who tries to bully people into being vegan, I’ve always seen that as somewhat counterproductive. I do however think that there are some particularly compelling reasons to be vegan. I shan’t go into massive detail, but the Vegan Society do that with their Making the Connection videos. There is an interesting debate about whether being vegan is the only green option on the New Internationalist site.
- The environmental impact of not raising animals is lower.
- Veganism is a relatively healthy way to eat.
- Meat eating impacts on global security, both through water and land use and in "food security" terms.
- Being vegan minimises animal exploitation.
Here’s a punk band that I like, Oi Polloi on why they’re vegan.
